BR Fares, a train fare enquiry website, has now launched ticket retailing capability which allows us to buy a ticket without choosing an itinerary, just like from a ticket machine. The website is accredited to the same standard as actual ticket machines.

With this functionality, buying commuter train tickets becomes much easier. For example, when the industry journey planning system goes down, or when engineering works prevent purchase of a ticket valid for ticket acceptence, or to buy some tickets which involve untimetabled bus links, you can directly buy the ticket online, just like from a ticket machine.

Just like buying a ticket from a ticket machine, it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that valid times and routes are used with the ticket. It can’t sell Advance tickets as it is tied to an itinerary, where this site, like a ticket machine, cannot perform a search. Similarly, it also can’t sell seat reservations as well, but you are free to obtain a seat reservation elsewhere after obtaining a valid ticket.
