Orienteering trip to the Baltic coast: Curonian Spit (North)
July 29-30: Curonian Spit (North)
I went to the beach the next day after I arrived in Nida. The beaches there are divided into nude beach, ladies beach, family beach, etc.
I went to the southernmost nude beach, went all the way south, and finally saw a sign.
To the south is the border closed zone, and the lighthouse is at the national border.
There was another tourist there, who gave me a telescope to look at the real border fence 800 meters away and the Russian soldiers in the lighthouse.
In the afternoon, I went to the Visitor Centre to buy an orienteering map for a tour, in order to familiarize myself with the competition environment in Smiltynė in the next few days.
Because I missed the sunset one night earlier, I hoped I could go to Death Valley once to watch the sunset, but unfortunately there was a thunderstorm before sunset! The opportunity was gone. I only went up the next morning.
Then I took the bus to Juodkrantė to see the Hill of Witches (Raganų kalnas).
and enter the forest to familiarise the terrain.
The hostel I stayed in was left over from the occupation era. I was able to see a cash machine with Russian written from the old days.
A few photos at the seaside.
